overheard at work
this is what i heard a kid say while he was playing a game on the computer:
“dude, we’re getting raped.”
no, you little 11-year old bastard, you are not getting raped. i didn’t know losing at a game was the same as being sexually assaulted. sometimes i just want to slap these kids upside the head. is that too violent of me?

i know i'm late with this...
i know the golden globes never give sons of anarchy any love except for that one win for katey sagal. so i didn’t expect them to get any nominations. what gets me is that barry pepper was passed over for one, for playing bobby kennedy in the kennedys; yet greg kinnear was nominated. i’m not saying that greg kinnear did a bad job, but barry pepper didn’t win the emmy for nothing....

Brad Pitt to retire from acting in 3 years... →
as much as this saddens me it makes complete sense. he does end up producing films that i ultimately love, (kick ass, for example). also, i would be interested in seeing a movie that he has directed. and hopefully he does end up “playing a foul-mouthed grumpy old dude one day”… i would love to see that.

i haven’t been to the movie theater in a while, and by a while i mean two weeks ago when i went to go see a free screening of moneyball. which was an excellent movie by the way. so i’m hoping to go see the ides of march and 50/50 this week. trying to make it a double feature, since that is what i do best.

javier: no, you asked, "just one?" the "just" is superfluous. it's like asking if i don't have anyone to go with. wife, girlfriend. and no, i don't. i can go alone to the movies, out to dinner, wherever. i'm not like other cowards who resort to books or magazines to hide their loneliness. i'm here alone because i feel like it. and i'm very happy. very. is that clear?

steve mcqueen's shame →
fox searchlight acquired shame starring michael fassbender and carrie mulligan, and they are planning to release it for the oscar race. apparently the film is rated as NC-17 and the fact that the director steve mcqueen has final cut and refuses to change anything just makes me love him even more. can’t wait to see this movie.
